Practical Anatomy Classes
For people who wish to better understand how their body moves
Facilitated by Meran Cassidy Rolfing Practitioner and Movement Therapist
Meran Cassidy has also been practicing yoga, dance and meditation for over 25 years. She has been working in the field of health and movement for 8 years. Treating people with significant musculoskeletal imbalances and trauma through to people who just want to experience a better kind of feeling good
As part of her training Meran has learnt a detailed and hands on approach to Anatomy and Physiology. Helping people to understand which structures are involved in movement, where they are located, and how to feel them in their own bodies.
Many of the clients she sees are Yoga Teachers, Dancers and other physical practitioners who use and move their bodies as a part of their living. Her experience has been that they know the kind of stretches and movements that benefit their bodies but not so much why. When given a taste of Meran’s wealth of knowledge they begin to experience Anatomy in a new way. They develop a thirst for more, a thirst which can’t be filled by looking at the dry content of an Anatomy text book with complicated names and little relationship to their lived experience of the body.
So Meran has developed this Practical Anatomy class. Where you can expand your Anatomy and Physiology knowledge in a way that supports your body. You will feel, locate and experience your body and better understand the reasons why your body works the way it does.
Class Content:
Each class will cover a different section of the body. While Meran will follow an outline in her classes, part of the purpose of Practical Anatomy is to teach people what they want to learn. Therefore the class will be informal, where students are encouraged to ask questions and choose the areas they want to understand in greater detail.

“ I am a yoga teacher. I have been teaching for 9 years. I have been particularly interested in the shoulder region after breaking my right shoulder as a teenager and finding that I never quite gained the flexibility and the strength I once had. I see a lot of yoga students who are slowly tightening through the shoulder region. In yoga we often give the instruction to roll the shoulders down away from the ears to help lengthen the area and release tension. In a session with Meran we looked at my limited shoulder movement and Meran showed me that while I had been using the front and tops of my shoulders to push my shoulders down, that I actually had no awareness of the muscles that are located under the shoulder blade. Now I can feel those muscles and have increased shoulder movement and awareness. Furthermore, I have a new way of explaining the movement to my students that often resonates better with them than a simple “roll your shoulders down away from your ears” instruction. I want to learn more!!! – Bonnie Russell resonateyoga
