Elephant pose

Spread your legs as wide as you can (you can even start by imagining that you need to spread your legs that wide because you’re riding on an elephant and you need to get one leg on each side. Telling children to keep their legs wide because they are imagining riding an elephant is a good idea because latter in the exercise when the legs get closer together you can comment that there are some very skinny looking elephants in the room.

We then bend all the way forward and reach for the ground in-between our legs. To form the trunk of the elephant we clasp the hands together and lock the fingers.

There are many many things you can do with elephant pose. We like to reach out trunks towards the ground imagining that we are sucking water up our trunks then we like to stand all the way up throwing our trunks over one shoulder imagining that we are splashing our selves with the water we just sucked up out trunks. Or you can use your trunks to stretch out and reach for a banana or a branch to eat.

Games: Elephant walking, Elephant kisses, One elephant balancing
