Upset the Crocodile

April 26th, 2007

Upset the crocodile was a game taught to me by one of my children. Her pilates teacher taught it to her to help improve some core strength.

Children get into crocodile pose with arms out in front palms of the hands facing down towards the ground they use their tummy muscles and their back muscles to push down into the ground as hard as they can. They are only allowed to use their tummies and their backs; they can’t use their hands or their feet to push down. Then the teacher walks around the room and one by one try to turn over the crocodiles.

It is interesting to try this with a child and then with an adult. I usually find that the adults are a lot easier to turn over than the children.

Other children’s yoga games you can play are … Giants treasure, Yoga poision ball, Musical  Mats, Triangle Tiggy, The knot, I went to a yoga class and I did, Yoga heads

    Hi,
I just wanted to say a big thank you for all the brilliant ideas you have shared. Im always looking for new stuff and its usually kept top secret so it has to be payed for before being revealed!

I have a good game for making the wee ones quiet. Its called sleeping giants - or it could be sleeping anything big and a bit scary. Anyway - the kids have to tip to around and be super quiet and when I hit the bell or singing bowl it means the giant has woken up and they all have to hide in childs pose. Whoever is the stillest and quietest gets a blanket put over them and everyone else has to guess who’s under it. The kids really love this game and all want to be under the blanket. Its really good for 3 year olds as it teaches them what stillness means. Well sometimes.
    Namaste
