Children’s Yoga birthday Parties
April 23rd, 2007To make the build–up to your child’s big day run smoothly please take some time to read this information.
If the party is to take place at your house please follow the following:• Please clear an area as large and furniture free as is possible (take care if moving heavy or large items-ask for help and bend your knees!)
• Carpet or a large rug is easier on the knees and warmer than floorboards so opt for this if there is a choice.
• It is advisable that all the children have arrived well before the commencement of the celebration; therefore allow approximately half an hour for this on the invitations. (Consider opening gifts afterward or this can be incorporated into the celebration. Please advise if you would like this option as time will need to be allocated)
• Adults are welcome to observe, however general conversation can interfere with the atmosphere. Please talk quietly or perhaps have another area for adults.
• Some children may want a parent to stay with them and maybe even participate- this is fine!
• If there is parking restrictions in your area please give details.
• A separate table or bench space for some items of interest to adults would be appreciated.
What you get:
• Invitations (custom designed for Celebration Yoga)
• Guided entertainment including welcome ceremony, yoga, games, songs, guided relaxation (visualization) and drawing.

The seed:
When my eldest daughter was about to turn six she decided that she’d like to have a party which included yoga-just for the fun of it! As I am a yoga instructor needless to say I encouraged this idea!
The backyard was beautifully decorated with a colourful shade cloth and floating candles in the bird bath. The guests arrived and we all began with some warming up, standing balances and animal postures. Incorporated was a creative pass the parcel (using feet and toes- no hands!) and musical statues. We finished off with a relaxing visualisation tailored for children and celebrating nature.
The children had such a lovely time and the parents who stayed to watch were very enthusiastic because here was something active, calming and different to the usual theme party.
Sun, rain and growth:
In 2006 we developed further and each party now also includes songs, beautifully handmade gifts and art. The birthday child is pampered and allowed to keep a bound book of drawings (using quality materials) done by the guests.
Ella’s party:
In October I conducted a party for a little dark haired, round eyed six year old named Ella.
Ella’s birthday is at the time of the year when spring begins to merge into the warmth of summer. The theme for her party was the growth of a little seed into a strong tree. We sang “Mother Earth” and Ella wore a special cape and crown and a big smile!
The following day Ella’s mother contacted me to tell me that as she was wishing her goodnight, Ella, half asleep, declared that if only it was her birthday EVERY day so she could have a yoga party that often!
